Jennifer Daniel is a Design Director at Google, overseeing creative direction for Android. Their work designing machine learning generated selfie stickers was recognized with a Fast Company Innovation Design Award and their emoji kitchen illustrations have picked up a number of awards and are currently on exhibit at the Society of Illustrators in New York.
Prior to joining Google, Jennifer was an Art Director and Graphics Editor at the New York Times for 10 years. During their time there, they worked in the newsroom covering a breadth of topics—ranging from government shutdowns, to the Olympics, to goth culture. From there, Jennifer went on to become the Graphics Director at Bloomberg Businessweek, where they oversaw the graphics for a number of award-winning issues *during the Turley era* where they led a small and scrappy team of data journalists and designers to research and create all maps, diagrams, charts, and chotckes for the magazine.
Acclaimed for their conceptual, clever, and content-driven approach to illustration and writing, their work has been widely published. Their latest book, The Origin of Almost Everything, explores the universe through charts and diagrams, data, and facts.
When not working, Jennifer enjoys stomping around the streets of New York, biking in the rain, and crafting beaded sculptures.
